Special Projects

Throughout the year the jail assists many different groups in the community with special projects. This group normally consists of one or two Deputy Jailers and state inmates assigned to the shop area. Below is a list of just some of the things they have accomplished.

 

Built bridges and a dock for Mahr Park.

Cleared brush from Beshear Dam and cleared teh water intake of trash and debris.

Painted, repaired, and restored Women's Triangle Recovery House in Madisonville.

   
Painted The Darby House in Dawson Springs

Refaced the counter at the Hopkins County Clerk's Office with recycled license plates

Participated in a food drive called, Groceries for Good, where they collected donations of food for families in need.


Painted the new Public Library.


Restored the basketball courts at Rosenwald Apartments, saving the City of Madisonville approximately $12,000.00.


Grinding and polishing the floors of the jail, saving the approximately $10,000.00 a year in maintenance and repair costs.
